dad

there was once a man who invited me for a jog and thus, i went. along the way we talked about many things and i got to hear some things that were in his heart. after some distance, we reached a big drain that was about 1 meter deep; and in it was a dirty old ball that some children must have kicked and fell in there. the man then went to nearest house and asked the neighbours if they knew whose ball it was and if they wanted it. they said, they dont know whose was it and it has been left there for quite some time already. the man asked if he could have it and they willingly said go ahead! haha. the man quickly used a dustbin cover nearby and scooped the ball out of the drain. i wanted to help but he said "no, its too dirty". he then carried the ball home and gave it a good wash.

the next day, my family drove together with a church to a kampung/village/refugee-housing in our island, to do some Salt-and-Light-ministry (mission at our doorstep). the man was there too and excitement was beaming all across his face. he took out the ball from his car and another one(dunno where he get from haha) and toss it to the village children to play with. it was a gift for them :) later that afternoon, we worked in set-up camps and helped up in different areas. he concentrated in the medical side, seeing patients and prescribing medications; while my sister and i helped up in the dental side. we gave oral health education and taught the children how to brush their teeth. we worked along side other church members and everyone helped one another to make the day smooth sailing :) i glance over to the other side where the man was working and tried to catch a peek at him. he was smiling and he was my dad.

happy birthday dad :)
